TECHNOCHEM's de-icing/anti icing fluids Type I, DEFROST PG I and Type I Fluids are water/glycol mixtures with a glycol content of at least 80%, which contain a corrosion inhibition package. These fluids have been used for many years to remove ice, snow and frost (De-Icing). They offer only very limited protection against further icing due to freezing precipitation. Type I fluids can be used in “single fluid” de / anti-icing operations, but are usually used in conjunction with Type II, as part of a two-step de / anti-icing procedure. Type I fluids are essentially de-icing fluids, but can also be used for anti-icing. Because they are not thickened, they will shear or blow off the airplane at relatively low airspeeds (60 knots). Type I fluids are always applied heated and diluted. For de-icing, it is the heat and hydraulic force that accomplish the task. For anti-icing, it is primarily the heat imparted to the airframe that accomplishes the task. DEFROST PG I is a propylene glycol based SAE Type I aircraft deicing fluid, designed to meet all individual environmental demands. DEFROST PG I is an AMS 1424/1 fluid. DEFROST EG I is a ethylene glycol based SAE Type I aircraft deicing fluid, designed to meet all individual environmental demands. DEFROST EG I is an AMS 1424/1 fluid.
TECHNOCHEM's de-icing / anti icing fluids Type II AFROST PG II and AFROST EG II meet the latest SAE Type II and AMS 1428 specifications for aircraft ice retardation. This formulation is specifically thickened so as to remain on the wing and other aircraft externals, to prevent ice from forming. Type II Fluids are water/glycol mixtures with a glycol content of at least 50% Type II and fluids add thickening agents to increase viskosity. The thickeners allow fluid the remain on the air craft longer to absorb and melt the frost or freezing precipitation. This translates to longer HOT (Hold Over Time) Type II fluids provide better protection against refreezing , but require a minimum 100 knot rotation speed. They are applied when long elapse time is anticipated between de-icing and take-off. AFROST PG II is a propylene glycol based SAE Type II aircraft deicing fluid, designed to meet all individual environmental demands. AFROST PG II is an AMS 1428 fluid. AFROST EG II is a ethylene glycol based SAE Type II aircraft deicing fluid, designed to meet all individual environmental demands. AFROST PG II is an AMS 1428 fluid.
